Bush of Arthrocnemum macrostachyum or Arthrocnemum glaucum in a pond of southern Sardinia. Often associated with the Arthrocnemum fruticosum, the Arthrocnemum glaucum colonizes in large meadow the high salinity soils typical of lagoons, ponds, marshes located in the low and sandy coasts of the Mediterranean Basin. Glasswort is a halophile suffrutticose plant of the Chenopodiaceae family. Being edible, with a salty-bitter taste, in Italy it is also called with the common name of Asparagus of Sea
