Gates in Bali island are very sacred because they connect the real world and the spiritual realm. In the past, the Balinese built gates to protect them from wild animals or intruders and most importantly, from evil spirits. There are two common types of gates: The first is the Candi Bentar is a splitgate traditionally built as a formal entrance to a Pura temple or puri palace. The other is Paduraksa, an intricately carved gate with a tiled or thatched roof that serves as an entryway to a family compound. Candi Bentar gate is one of the traditional buildings or traditional houses in Bali. This building has unique architecture and a beautiful structure that can attract both local and foreign tourists. This building is in the form of two temples that are split in the middle and form a proportional side.
