Embers are burning coals stemming from the combustion of wood, from coal, or from another material established constituted by carbon carried worn at high temperature. This phase of particular combustion follows a primary combustion which is less hot. Embers can reach very high temperatures because there are no more endothermic volatile fractions. They emit a quantity of important heat much later the extinction of flames and can refresh an apparently put out fire, so representing a danger of fire in certain circumstances. To avoid this risk, it is recommended to pay some water or the earth on embers and to remain watchful. Embers are responsible for very numerous occasions of forest fires because they can leave more than 48 hours after extinction. Photo taken outdoor, of day and without character.
