Founded in 1896, Southwest Jiao Tong University, formerly the Shanhaiguan Beiyang railway official school, is the first institution of higher learning in China, the birthplace of China& x27;s civil engineering, traffic engineering, mining and Metallurgy Engineering, one of the first two major sources of the University of communications, and renowned at home and abroad with the name of & x22;Tangshan Jiaotong& x22; and & x22;Tang Yuan& x22;. The comrade inscribed the school name for the school. The school has been named Tangshan Jiaotong University, Tangshan Engineering College of traffic university, China Transportation University, Northern Jiaotong University and Tangshan Railway College. In 1964, Sichuan was moved to Sichuan and Southwest Jiao Tong University was renamed in 1972.
