Opened in 1908 as the vaudeville `Brown`s Opera House` by Edmund Joseph Brown, the father of Californias former governor Edmund Brown and grandfather to the current governor Jerry Brown. It was very successful until the 1930`s when movie theaters started rolling out. So they became a motion picture house also. The Victoria was very successful, but like the vaudeville theater it replaced, had a downturn and finally closed. Recently reopened to claim the `Oldest Movie Theater` in San Francisco status, this landmark building got a fresh paint job including for the ghost sign of Albers. Although Portland Oregon based Albers is still in business, they stopped making their `flapjack flour` a very long time ago.
