It was the first parochial church of the term of Sant Celoni in northeastern Catalonia, until the current one was built. The first documents that refer to them are from the 11th century. Then the urban nucleus was not yet formed, and the term was not called Sant Celoni but Pertegàs, the name of the tributary of the Tordera that passes near the chapel. The Celonins, at that time, lived in scattered farmhouses and were on Sundays in the church, where they celebrated the cult and also resolved common problems.
