As in may other countries, also in Catalonia, the younger generations have opted to leave their rural homeland behind and migrate to urban enclosures in major cities were they hope to get jobs which may offer them an easier life and better salaries. This has brought the abandonment and decadence of rural life and with it the desertion of formerly magnificent catalan style farmers houses, the Masies, which now slowly break down while nature takes back control.
