Skellig Michael and its monastery are accessible by boat only between May and September due to winter storms. Those climbing the treacherous unprotected staircase to the monastery begin their journey near the small boat landing, where as seen here, Skellig Michael`s cragged pinnacles tower above the Atlantic Ocean. Skellig Michael Island and its ancient Christian monastery have been battered by centuries of relentless wild Atlantic storms.
