Gradually, however, the construction of the walls and bastions began, which led to the fame of Brasov until far as `the fortress of the seven bastions`. The walls were doubled and sometimes, on the north-eastern side, especially, triple, with ditches and waves of earth. Between the walls were the so-called `zwinger`, each mastered by a guild. Starting with the 15th century, under the supervision of King Sigismund of Luxembourg, the first fortifications of Brasov fortress were built.
