Today Burgas was founded by the ancient Greeks, called Pyrgos Tower. This was mainly due to the fact that this place is strategically very significant. There was a military garrison and a major port. In the 14th century the Ottoman Empire built a military fortress; In the 17th century, 3,000 people lived here and the city finally got its name today. Most residents were still Greeks. The modern port was built in 1894 - 1903, thanks to which the business developed and the city became the center of the whole area. In 1903, railroads were built, new oil-processing plants were built, and chemicals were produced later.
