Abbey of the Mother of God in Montserrat Monasterio de Santa Maria de Montserrat - male Benedictine monastery, located in the Montserrat massif in Catalonia. He is known for the cult of the statue of the Holy Mother La Moreneta. Blackened from candles burned for hundreds of years, the figure of the Mother of God is located in a niche above the main altar of the basilica. At the monastery there is a school, a boarding house for boys and boys of Gregorian, one of the oldest in Europe, called Escolania de Montserrat. Above the monastery there are rocky slopes of the massif with interesting rock forms.
