Entrance gate into the historical ancient complex Chogha Zanbil. Chogha Zanbil (Elamite: Dur Untash) is an ancient Elamite complex in the Khuzestan province of Iran. The place is located about 30km soth-east of Susa and is one of only few existant ziggurats outside of Mesopotamia. Chogha in Bakhtiari means hill. Choga Zanbil means ââ¬Å¾basket moundââ¬Å. It was built about 1250 BC by the king Untash-Napirisha. The whole complex was built from mud bricks or occasionally baked bricks and was dedicated to Inshushinak (Insusinak), the bull-god of Susa. Chogha Zanbil became the first Iranian site to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List
