The mountain ash or middlings Tree typical of the mountain belt, with stem up to 15 meters high. If it grows in difficult stations, it can also appear as a shrub. The bark is smooth and light, gray. With age it splits superficially. The foliage is large and domed, very thick. The leaves have the typical shape of the plants of the genus Sorbus, but instead of being composed, they are simple. Oval with toothed margin, measuring about 8 12 x 5 cm. The upper page is quite dark green, opaque, while the lower one is entirely and thickly covered with white hairs that give it an almost sparkling appearance. Before falling in autumn they become yellow and finally gray, while the lower page remains white
