Plataresti Monastery is a monastery of Orthodox confession, located in the canonical subordination of the Bishopric of Slobozia and Calarasi. The monastery was founded by the Lord of the Romanian Country Matei Basarab and his wife Elina, in 1632, the stone church of the monastery was built between 1642-1646 by the same Lord and consecrated on April 3, 1646. The monastery is located in the south part of the town of Plataresti. from Calarasi county, on a terrace of the DâmboviŠ £a river, after its confluence with the Colentina river, about 20 kilometers southeast of Bucharest and 15 kilometers from Cernica Monastery. The architectural ensemble of the PlătăreŠ Ÿti monastery was declared a historical monument in 1915, currently being included on the list of historical monuments in Calarasi county in 2004 and 2010, as an architectural monument of national importance. The monastic ensemble is made up of: The church dedicated to `Saint Mercenary Mercury`, the Royal House, the cells, the annex buildings and the precinct wall, all included in the list of historical monuments.
