The Arc de la Estrella, a traditional entrance to the Monumental City of Cáceres, came to replace the New Building of the fifteenth century. It joins the Plaza Mayor with the Plaza de Santa María both nerve centers of the city for centuries.nnBaroque style, it was built by Manuel de Larra Churriguera in the eighteenth century on a construction of the fifteenth century, it is a lowered arch of great amplitude and in esviaje, done in this way to facilitate the passage of the carriages to the Monumental City. It is built by drilling the wall, which retains its battlement. In the back there is a temple in which is the statue of the Virgin of the Star that gives the name to the arch. It is considered as the most important gate of the Monumental City, since it was the place chosen by the Catholic Queen to swear the Fueros and privileges in 1477, also in this same arch the Fueros to the city swore King Ferdinand `The Catholic` in 1479. Also it receives the name of New Door, for being the last door constructed in the wall.
