Virgin Mary with baby Jesus in her right arm. She holds in her left hand a metal rose, and below it is a shield with the old coat of arms of Brasov, representing a crown of lily. The shield is supported on one side by an angel and the other by a demon. The Virgin Mary is the patron saint of the city of Brasov, but also of the Black Church.
The statue was made by the Siberian sculptor Kurtfritz Handel in 1983 following the plaster model of Margarethe Depner 1885 - 1970. Statue of the Black Church in Brasov.
