The first white-stone dam near the village of Borisovo was built by decree of Boris Godunov in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Much later, already under Catherine the great, the stone godunovskaya dam was repaired and modified with a file designed by the architect K. I. Blank. During the Soviet Union, the dam underwent another reconstruction - this time it was completely reinforced with concrete. In the 1960s, after the construction of the Gorodni reservoir, the dam was used to pass water only during floods. Since the mid-80`s, water discharge has stopped completely.
