The sacred ibis is a pelecaniform of the Treschiornitid family. He lives in sub-Saharan Africa, Iraq and former Egypt, a country where he is now virtually extinct, where he was revered as a symbol of the god Thot. He is currently naturalized in several European countries; in Italy it is found in the vicinity of lakes or rivers, as along the Mincio, in the territory of Polesine, in the Delta del Po, in the countryside between Novara and Vercelli. The species is rapidly expanding and is considered `Invasive Exotic Species`
