Monument to Russian Tsar Ivan III in the Kaluga region of Central Russia. On July 8, 2017, a monument to Grand Duke Ivan III of Moscow was opened and consecrated in the Vladimir Hermitage of the Holy Dormition Tikhon`s desert in the Kaluga region. The monument is installed on the historical site where the decisive events of the famous `Standing on the eel`took place in 1480. There, in the Hermitage, is a Museum complex and a diorama `Great Standing on the eel`. Thanks to the wise foreign and domestic policy of John III, the Mongol-Tatar yoke was finally overthrown, the national sovereignty of Russia was restored, feudal strife stopped, and significant economic growth took place in the country. In his reign was held the most important government reforms introduced in the Russian state symbols: coat of arms, Orb, scepter, seal, adopted a unified Set of state laws, established rules of judicial proceedings, criminal, civil rights, systems of land tenure.
