An ancient tree that was present for the civil war, sits in the middle of a producing hayfield. Although the tree appears to be dead, occasional growth seems to come from it. The tree has two main limbs, and in the right light, people have thought they saw a civil war soldier reaching out for them. When the wind blows in just the right way, some say they can hear that soldier crying to them too. There is always some truth to the old tales, and this tree sits in a field in Virgina that is not far from some of the historic battle sites.
