Sparrowhawk Accipiter nisus is a small bird of prey with a body length of 30-41 cm. Females are slightly larger than males, with broad and round wings and longer tails. The upper body of the male bird is dark gray, the female bird is grayish brown, with a little white on the back of the head. The lower body is white or off-white, male birds have fine red-brown horizontal spots, and female birds have brown horizontal spots. The tail has 4-5 dark-brown horizontal spots, the trailing edge of the wings is slightly protruding when flying, and the flying feathers under the wing have several dark-brown horizontal bands, usually quickly agitating both wings for a while and then glide for a while.
