The castle is located in the valley of the Broekerbach, a tributary of the Geul. It is a large complex that was completely moated, of which part of the canals are still present, and consists of four wings built together in an intricate way. The current building is mainly 17th century, but the southeast wing in particular may contain older parts. The castle is entered by a stone bridge, which replaces an earlier drawbridge.
