The three tunnels located on the Heidestein estate were built between 1907 and 1926 by order of esquire De Wetstein Pfister, who owned the estate during this period. The rampart and pond near the tunnels are said to have been excavated as a project to combat unemployment. The three tunnels are of cultural-historical value because of their function in relation to the use of the country estate, they are also of architectural-historical value as an intact and rare example of a building type, the use of materials and detailing. The location within the Heidestein complex gives the objects a high ensemble value.
