It is black, but the light is refracted, giving iridescent reflections. They are metal. Its other features include the presence of side openings in the rigid elytra for the extension of transparent wings. Since the bronze does not need to open or lift the elytra before flying, the beetle instantly rises into the air. It is easier for an insect there than for most relatives.
