Beautifull white sphagnum mosses on Irish peatlands in Wild Nephin National Park in county Mayo. Sphagnum moss, botanical name Sphagnum, is a genus of mosses with over a hundred different species.This small plant grows in the peat that rises above the water. It grows at the top on top of its own dead remains. Thus it forms an important part of the raised bog.
