Pictured is a sixty-four-year-old female Korean tourist posing with mosaic tiles on display in the Hassan II Mosque Museum in Casablanca, Morocco. Moroccan mosaic, Zellige, has been in use in the local architecture since the XII century. They are prepared from clay which is hydrated and kneaded and cut into tiles which are fired in a kiln at 1,000 degrees Centigrade. Tiles are cut into small pieces with a sharpened hammer and put upside down on a flat surface and covered with a mortar called Hamri.
