The forneiro`s nest is made by a couple of birds, using a mixture of clay and straw that they carry from the ground to the nest site in up to hundreds of trips. The chosen location is always a branch, wall or other more rigid surface. A very similar mixture is also used in human constructions, in the system known as COB. In COB houses, the earth is mixed with sand and straw, and the walls are also erected without machines, although in this case the molding is done with the hands and not with nozzles. In both cases the strength of the material is very high, resisting to time and weather for many years.
