A thick clump of Stinging Nettle Urtica dioica and Catchweed Galium aparine, these two plants are often found growing together. Catchweed also known as clivers and sticky willy is edible and used in folk medicine. Its leaves have small barbs which stick to clothes and other plants. Stinging nettle also known as burn weed has a long history of use as a source for traditional medicine, food, tea, and textile raw material in ancient times. Its leaves and stems have hollow stinging hairs which inject chemicals such as histamine, serotonin, and acetylcholine.Photograph taken April 26th 2022 Sherbourne Park Poole in Dorset England.
