The century plant, agave americana, is also known as the maguey or American aloe. The senita cactus, Lophocereus schotti, has synonyms that include Pilocereus schotti and Pachycereus schotti. Purple bougainvillea, bougainvillea glabra, is also called the paperflower. The garden is 125 years old and contains over 50 species of trees and many exotic flowers.
