The schools preparations were first made in 1886, and opened in 1888, on Sacramento Street, as Chinese Western School, with the Chinese General Counsel appointing Mr.Zhan Qing Cheng as the first principal. Even with only sixteen students for the very first years class, they were divided into two, with a teacher and teacher aide for the two classes. in 1927 this location on Stockton Street became the new home, with Chinese Central High School becoming its new name. Today, Chinese Central High School is the oldest Chinese school in America. As seen 28 September 2022.
