Blue Lakes is a natural monument near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky city. The Blue Lakes are located in the area of the Landscape Natural Park of Regional Importance, called `Blue Lakes`.
Blue lakes is a system of lakes that are located in a glacial basin. The lakes got their name due to the fact that during the period of rapid snowmelt in June, part of the ice covering the water mirrors is flooded. As a result, ice in reflected light takes on a bright blue, up to ultramarine, color.
