Maple Acer is a genus of trees from the soap family. In earlier taxonomic systems, it was classified in the maple family Aceraceae, which, however, was not accepted by the phylogenetic concept of plant systematics. Representatives of the genus are usually tall deciduous trees, but some species have only a weaker growth and are either lower trees or shrubs. There are also several types of evergreens. The leaves are friendly, usually palmate, with a striking autumn color. The flowers are regular, arranged in erect or drooping inflorescences; it develops before, at the same time as, or after leafing. They are pollinated except by exceptional insects. The fruits are winged dicots, technically called samaras, well adapted to spread by wind.
