The Coffin Redington Pharmaceutical company was the very first pharmaceutical company in the whole American West, starting in 1849. In addition to manufacturing the drugs, they also became the first drug wholesaler in San Francisco. This building, from 1937, was combination headquarters, manufacture, laboratory, shipping and warehouse. And, being very close to the new Bay Bridge, which at the time still had trains running on it, made it much more convenient. The Coffin Redington Pharmaceutical merged with Brunswig Drug in 1949, which became Bergen Brunswig Corporation in 1969. This building today is condos and offices. As seen 18 January 2023.
