Lausanne, a city in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, is located on the north shore of Lake Leman, across the lake from the French city of Evian-les-Bains, and to the north is the Jura Mountains. Lausanne is located about 62 kilometers northeast of Geneva. It is the capital of the Swiss Federal Canton of Vaud and the Lausanne District. It is also the core city of the Greater Lausanne metropolitan area and the fourth largest city in Switzerland. Lausanne, like neighboring Geneva, is the headquarters of many famous international organizations such as the International Olympic Committee, so it is also known as the "Olympic Capital".
