In Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi area, people participate in the Thanksgiving festival referred to as the "Butter Festival," or Makkhand ki Handi AKA Andhuri Utsav. One such odd holiday is the Butter Holiday, sometimes referred to as Butter Holi and locally as "Andhuri Utsav" (or "Anduri Utsav").The custom of breaking this handi serves as the holiday's official start for the locals. On the Bugyal (alpine Mido), family and friends gather for a single-day celebration.
