Pictured is a memorial bronze bust of Professor Maria Amelia Wilkes Cesena in Mijares Plaza in San Jose del Cabo. She was born in 1907 and died in 1989. She was known for her teaching and community organizing, always fighting for her people. She helped during disasters caused by the cyclones of 1934 and 1939, and was part of the committees for the establishment of various public services in her hometown, Cabo San Lucas.
