The 'Tammate' tree, or its Latin name Lannea coromandelica is also known as the kudo tree. This plant is unique, because it grows easily everywhere.This is the background to its name, tammate itself is Makassarese which means not dying or having a hard time dyings.The international language for the kudo tree is Indian ash tree. The kudo tree is thought to have originated from India and then spread throughout Indonesia. In Flores itself, this plant is called the reo tree. In several areas in South Sulawesi it is called aju cina.
