Pulau Kodok Beach has been known to the people of Tegal city since the 2010s, where previously this beach was called Martoloyo Beach, then the name was changed to Pulau Kodok Beach to differentiate it from Martoloyo Indah Beach which is located nearby. It is said that the name Frog Island comes from the habit of pond fishermen around coastal locations who often move by jumping, like frogs jumping. Meanwhile, other sources say that the name Frog Island was given because of the large number of frogs around the beach in the past
