Mahamritunhay temple is the biggest among the group of temples in Jageshwar Dham. According to archaeologists mahamritunjay temple is the oldest temple in jageshwar dham. Maha Mritunjay temple is the most beautiful temple as well. The exterior of the temple include ancient sculptures . According to historians and archaeologist this place is considered the most important because of two reasons.1. Maha Mitunjay Temple is the biggest and oldest temple.2. There are 25 inscriptions on its wall and pillar which are considered from 7th to 10th century. Its language is Sanskrit and bramhi.According to Skandha purana and Linga purana the worship of lord Shiva was started from Jageshwar. And 12th Jyotirlinga was originated here in Jageshwar.
