The oldest known hand tool yet is about 3.3 million years old, coming from Kenya. This was a very simple tool at best, but that was just the very beginning. Although it has now been accepted that more and more other animals use tools also, what sets humans apart is our almost total dependence on tools to be able to do just about everything. Just as we have many sub-specialist in some career fields, we also have many highly specialized tools for some fields. As enjoyed 29 September 2023.
