Mature Bald Eagle perched in a cottonwood tree on its nest along the banks of the Mississippi river at the Melvin Price Lock and Dam number 26 on the river at Alton, Illinois. A sunny day along the Mississippi river in western Illinois. The eagle is studying the skies looking for its mate or resting after having eaten a fish from the nearby Mississippi river. This nest is located right next to the highway 143 and just yards from the dam where the eagles fish below the outflow gates.
