Digitalis purpurea L. is an annual or perennial herbaceous plant in the family Plantaginaceae and the genus Digitalis. The plant is 0.5-1 meters tall, with upright stems and few branches. The entire plant is covered with gray white pubescence and glandular hairs, and the leaves are basal, forming a lotus shaped, oval or ovate lanceolate shape. The terminal raceme has a bell shaped corolla, purple red color, and light white spots on the inner surface. Chrysanthemum fruit is oval shaped. Because of its hairy stems and leaves, as well as leaves resembling Rehmannia, it is named "hairy Rehmannia" Also known as "digitalis" because it comes from distant Europe.
