Pictured is a male house finch on a tree branch in the Transitions Bird and Wildlife Photography Ranch near the City of Uvalde, Texas. The binomial name is Haemorhous mexicanus. Other names include rose-breasted finch and Hollywood finch. House finches forage on the ground or in vegetation normally. They primarily eat grains, seeds and berries. The male feeds the female during breeding and incubation of the eggs, and raising of the young.
