Majaelrayo is located at 1182 m. above sea level at the head of the Sierra del Ocejón valley in a very slaty hilly terrain but with abundant pastures, which allowed its inhabitants to have relative “wealth” thanks to their extensive livestock herd. As a complementary activity, the immense oak forests then existing were exploited for the production of charcoal and its export to other Castilian regions.The whole hamlet is made up of medium-sized and even larger buildings with the characteristic construction typology of this mountain range, black architecture the absolute use of slate, wood and clay that, as in other population centers, was shared by people and their draft animals, cows and chickens, leaving spaces for outdoor corrals where goats and sheep were kept.
