Pictured is a distant fire burning in the wetlands of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, Africa. Most of the wetlands fires are set accidentally by humans, but they are usually self limited and not dangerous. The photograph was taken from the origin spot of a Mokoro canoe safari experience, an activity of the nearby Atzaro Okavango Camp. Several of the mokoro canoes are partially seen in the foreground. Today they are fiberglass but traditionally they were made by digging out the trunk of a large straight tree.
