Toledo has had a wall since the Romans, which had to be rebuilt by the Visigoth king Wamba in 674. The current wall is of Arab origin where we can find some Roman remains. King Alfonso VI was awarded the completion of the wall works in 1085, after reconquering the city. Toledo has always had a well-known great wall throughout its history, with its entry and exit gates taking center stage, such as the Bisagra Gate, the Alfonso VI Gate, or the Cambrón Gate.
