In 1930 banker and philanthropist Herbert Fleishhacker Sr and his wife gifted the Rainbow Falls to Golden Gate Park, where he was also a park commissioner. Park superintendent John McLaren used cement along the wall where the water would come rushing down, to prevent erosion. From the small lake there, it flowed slowly west along JFK Promenade under the Overpass bridge, through the tunnel under Transverse Drive to come bubbling out and empty into Lloyd Lake. But for some unknown reason it has been off, leaving just old and fading memories. As unhappily seen 26 January 2022.
