Landscape panorama of Bucegi Mountains with mountain crocus in front. Mountain crocus (Crocus heuffelianus, Crocus vernus) is a plant of the family Iridaceae shorter. Has one small stalk surrounded by several folders based on two to three leaves elongated and narrow. At the top of a single flower stem is light violet with a darker stripe at the top of the flower. The flower-shaped tube has the top, as in the form of a cup having six divisions 50-60 mm. Sometimes the top are two flowers. In the middle of the corolla are three stamens and stigma yellow trifurcate. Crocus blooms in April (the flower can get snow) until May. It is found in dense clumps, from the forests, pastures and other open grassy places. In Romania it is found in the Carpathians and the Apuseni Mountains.
