Photo made in the peninsula of Mani. The peninsula is a geographical and cultural sub-region of Greece, which occupies the central peninsula of the three which extend southwards from the Peloponnese. The peninsula is popularly called the middle finger. Human settlement in the peninsula is scattered in towns very small and isolated, the most important of which is historically Areopoli, traditionally considered the capital of the most populous Máni while the town is today Gytheio, the main port of the region. The community that has settled is known for a long history of proud independence and strong attachment to traditions. The picture shows a section of the heavily indented coastline with rocks that plunge into the waters of a deep blue.
