Fuchsias Pink and Purple Hanging Flowers. Part of the Onagraceae Genus, Fuchsia are evergreen shrubs with green opposite or whorled leaves. Also known as Fuchsia Herald in Britain. When in bloom as shown here, the flowers are very decorative; they have a pendulous teardrop shape with a tubular calyx, four short, spreading scarlet sepals and four broader red-veined purple petals. In this picture the pistils are clearly visible as are the stigma, stamen and seedcase. The pink colour, Fuchsia gets its name from these flowers.
